My teeth are going to hell.
I can't believe how quickly, either. I mean, I know after pregnancy some women's teeth go bad, even start falling out, but I wasn't expecting it.
The four baby teeth I still have are finally giving up. What bothers me is this: I was at my new dentist today, and he mentioned "I probably wouldn't have done braces and surgery until your baby teeth had come out." Well, great. See, I was under the impression that the caps they put on my baby teeth would help them last a lot longer. A month or so ago I had fillings put in a few of my baby teeth because of cavities, and now one of the baby teeth is abscessing (because the cavity was too deep) and needs to be extracted as soon as possible. Sure, okay, except that now there will be a hole there, and unless I want my teeth to be out of line, (thus erasing the past 10 years of dental work) I have to fill that hole. I have two options, and neither of them are that cheap. I can get an implant - $5000 per tooth. I can get partial dentures, which, for all 4 baby teeth would cost about 1300, so for one it wouldn't be that bad... but I'd still need to get the implant some time soon before I have bone loss in my jaw from nothing being there. The other baby tooth on the bottom has a deep cavity that they could fill, but because it's so deep, it would more than likely abscess like the other is doing.
After a night of thinking about it, I'm going to see what extraction of both bottom teeth and getting a partial denture would cost. We have to do it very very quickly because Robb's health benefits run out the minute he quits (which should be this week, but we might have to delay it a week.)
Apart from that, but related, I've decided to be a Passion Parties consultant. It being related to my teeth is the fact that it will provide some income to help with costs. I can also do it part time and most of my work will be in the evenings and on the weekends. It'll be hard at first, but with Robb's help, I've devised a plan to make it work. Here are some of the steps I'm going to take to help myself be successful:
1) Start Toastmasters. It will help my confidence level with speaking in front of people. I mostly don't mind talking in front of people, but I do stumble on my words a lot and that lowers my confidence.
2) Tell everyone I know that I'm starting Passion Parties, and get them to tell their friends, and so on.
3) Come up with ways to make my parties stand out. Some examples are - give out small gift bags with some small things from Lush to everyone who comes, also, tailoring the party to the people.
4) Follow up on everything, and follow up quickly. The goal here is to respond to messages and emails the moment I get them.
5) Set goals. I read about one woman who went from Consultant to Executive Director in 9 months. While I would like to achieve that, I think a more reasonable goal for me would be 2 years.
The only ideas I've yet to come up with are ways to get people I don't know to throw a party with me.
All in all, I think this is a good move for me right now, and my family. I've worked in the industry before, so I know the product and can definitely sell with confidence (with the help of Toastmasters). I'm really looking forward to starting.
With that, I'll sign off for today. I'm going to go play with my cute little babies and enjoy life. :)
