It's been a while since I updated this blog. Having twins takes a lot out of you, and sometimes I feel the more I learn, the more I forget. It's like the things I learn push the things I already know out of my head. I forget things... like I forgot this blog. But I found it again, and it's a great excuse to get into writing again.
The twins... WHEW. Where do I start? They're three and a half now. They'll be four in April. Spark is 100% toilet trained. Silas still wears a diaper at night, but not nap time - he stays completely dry then, which is awesome.
Spark's in preschool. She goes every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:30-11:30. She absolutely loves it. She loves her friends (she's been invited to her first birthday party!) and her teachers and she even has a recital this Wednesday. I made a dress for her and everything.
Silas and I do other things while Spark's at school. We go to the mall and watch the waterfall they have there. Or sometimes we'll go to the park if it's not too rainy or cold out. Other times I'll have to run errands. The Child Development Center has a drop-in sing along on Wednesdays from 10-11, which is just perfect. We can go there while Spark's at school. We've been once already, and Silas was a little tornado running around the room. I will say though... it was a relief to have other parents of special needs kids there. I didn't feel as alienated. With other parenting groups I feel like people are judging the poor little guy, and wondering why he isn't more well behaved... like it's at all under his control. Poor guy.
But we're still learning how to raise kids, let alone a child with Autism. They get a lot of sleep. They eat well. We do some crafts or have dance parties or play "farm" and milk cows and collect eggs and feed pigs. They're getting to that age where it's easier for them to imagine things, and voice their opinions about things. Like when we were milking the cows, Spark said "Uh oh! Mess!" as she pretended her bucket fell over. So we cleaned it up.
I've been having a hard time keeping my depression in check. I think I might talk to my doctor about it. I've been resisting medication because of how crappy it has been in the past, but that might just be SSRI's. I'm going to suggest a different medication that has helped some of my friends who also have depression/anxiety.
Well, that's all for now. I'm going to tidy up and spend some time in front of the (t.v.) fireplace with Robb. :)
Goodnight dear Void.
